PALLBEARER (2025) documentary - 01:21:33

With this grimly photographed portrait, we descend into a small Appalachian town amongst the ridges of central Pennsylvania and meet Eric Morder, a 33-year-old poet in the throes of growing up as he monologues about life, love, obsession and journeying through the cosmos with his beloved cat Zeusy.

NOTES:

Production on Pallbearer began during the summer of 2006 and continued intermittently until 2014, with mixed results at completing it along the way.  Ultimately the film was shelved until editing was completed in 2025.

Tim met Eric Morder in 1986 during a game of Dungeons and Dragons in a friend’s basement.  Eric eventually acquired his Master’s degree in English and spent much of his time writing compulsively while working as assistant manager at the local Dairy Queen.  He was an adjunct Professor of English at Penn State University from 2008-2010.  Eric passed away in July 2021.

The following was submitted as part of Eric's bio:
"Eric’s goal is to be paid enough to get by on for his writing without having to work a day job.  He keeps writing in his free time with the understanding that if he makes not a dime before he’s dead—and he hasn’t made buckets of dough yet—it will all be worth it for the very worthwhileness the sitting, writing, and reviewing of it has been, even if no other soul witnesses it.  'I should move to Laurel Canyon if I want to get on the map,' he equivocates.  Perhaps he will die a Kafka not needing to leave a 'burn all my works' note—perhaps it will be burned, or ignored, regardless."

Many of  Eric's self-published works can be found at lulu.com.
